Charles Acosta

As president of Arrival Pictures, Charles Acosta's most recent focus has been on distribution, but the road he has traveled to reach this point has been truly unique.

Charles earned a degree in Business Finance from the University of San Diego, which led him to pursue a career with Wall Street giant, Merrill Lynch. It was through his experience with the firm that he gained valuable knowledge in the fields of marketing and management of financial assets.

Capitalizing on this knowledge and with a desire to enter the field of motion picture production, Charles signed on as executive producer of the feature film "Pendulum," which was produced in 2000. After a limited theatrical run in 2002, "Pendulum" received wide domestic release for home video, pay-per-view and pay cable markets through Artisan, Blockbuster, DirecTV and HBO/Cinemax.

In 2003, he formed Arrival Pictures with primary attention on producing independent movies. The following year, Charles developed and produced the feature film "Drop Dead Sexy," which has recently sold to Lions Gate Films for a 2006 release.

In 2005, Arrival Pictures' first national theatrical release, "The Keeper: The Legend of Omar Khayyam," enjoyed successful exposure in theaters across the United States for more than six months, utilizing a market-by-market method of release. Beginning on the West coast and culminating on the East, "The Keeper" was shown at some of the most prestigious art house cinemas in the nation including the Sunshine Cinema in New York City. Most recently, Arrival has acquired the domestic theatrical distribution rights to "La Tragedia de Macario' (Macario's Tragedy), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2006 and is scheduled to release in the fall of 2006.

In addition to running his company, Charles stays active in the production community at-large. He is often sought as a speaker and panelist, with appearances at South by Southwest Film Festival, The Austin Film Festival and the Santa Fe Film Festival. Charles has been a judge for the Deep Ellum and USA Film Festivals. He has also served as a member of the advisory board and legislative committee of the Dallas Producers Association.
